Automatic Hebrew-to-English Transliteration
This utility will transliterate or transcribe Hebrew words into Roman letters readable by English speakers.
Requirements:
- Text must be entered in the box below in Unicode format. See this example of the book of Genesis in Unicode.
- Vowel points (nikkud) are required for an accurate result.
While the results are usually quite good, they are not always perfect. There are many technical nuances of Hebrew script, and I have not accommodated all of them. I recommend that you proofread the results before use.
Cantillation marks (which appear in many biblical texts) are not required, but if they are present, the script will interpret them to indicate syllable stress and punctuation.
